Gas chromatographs we service
We service the GC systems most often found in pharmaceutical QC, contract testing and research laboratories in Mumbai and Thane. From Agilent Technologies that means the 6890 series, including the 6890 paired with a G1888 headspace sampler for residual solvent (OVI) work, the 7890B with up to two inlets and two detectors, the compact 8860 and the two-channel 8890. From Shimadzu it means the GC-2010 Plus and the GC-2014. We also support the PerkinElmer TurboMatrix HS-40 headspace sampler. On these platforms we work on inlets, detectors and electronic pneumatic control (EPC) modules, with FID, TCD and ECD detector configurations. The GC-2014 is simple enough that most of its faults can be repaired on site rather than by replacing whole boards.

Breakdown repair and what to send us
When a GC stops a QC release, the first message decides how quickly the right engineer and parts arrive. Send the brand and full model, the serial number, what the instrument is doing in your own words, such as "no peak" or "retention times moving", since when it started and whether it started suddenly, any error message on the screen, the date of the last preventive maintenance or calibration, and whether the unit is under warranty or an AMC. Our engineers carry common spares on breakdown calls. We do not promise a fix before seeing the instrument, because one symptom can have several different causes.
Preventive maintenance, AMC and CMC for GC
An AMC covers the engineer's visits and labour, typically two preventive visits a year plus breakdown calls, with spare parts charged separately. A CMC also includes the wear parts, although items such as columns and glassware are often excluded and the contract wording decides. On a GC the consumables are septa, inlet liners, ferrules, the gas purifier or trap, the syringe, the FID jet and the column. Calibration is scheduled every 6 or 12 months according to your own SOP, and we provide IQ, OQ and PQ documents for GC systems so that maintenance and qualification can be planned together.

Why are the retention times drifting on my GC?
Drifting retention times usually point to a change in carrier gas flow or a leak. Check the gas supply, the inlet septum, the column ferrules and the gas purifier first. On systems with electronic pneumatic control a shift usually means something upstream has changed, such as a leaking ferrule or a septum past its life. Ghost peaks point instead to a dirty septum or liner.
