What refurbished means at Vision Analytical
Words such as used, refurbished and "as is" are applied loosely in India, so it is worth asking what a seller means. A used or "as is" instrument is sold in the condition it was found. A refurbished instrument has been inspected, cleaned, repaired where needed, fitted with new wear parts and tested. Our listed HPLC units are function-checked across the pump, the autosampler and the detector before they are listed, and each listing states the condition, the warranty period and the accessories included. The table below shows the units listed today; a model page or a photograph is information, not a stock confirmation.

The best refurbished buys are models that were widely sold and are still widely serviced. Popular models matter because spare parts are easier to find, more engineers know them, and methods transfer easily because many published and in-house methods were developed on them. Before choosing, check that your chromatography software can control the system on a computer your IT team can support, and whether a software licence is included and transferable.
What to check before you pay
Ask for the pump pressure test and the pressure ripple at a typical flow, and whether the seals and check valves were replaced. On the autosampler ask whether the rotor seal, needle and needle seat were replaced, and for the injection precision and carryover results. On the detector ask for the lamp hours, the lamp energy and the wavelength accuracy result. The column oven and degasser should both be working. The most reliable check is a test run with a stable baseline, steady pressure and repeated injections of a standard with consistent retention times and areas.

Put the answers in writing before you sign - what was replaced, which test results apply to this unit, whether installation is included, what the warranty covers and excludes, and whether IQ and OQ documents can be provided after installation.
